BHP Queens is a family run business based in rural Buckinghamshire with a rich bee keeping heritage. The company is known for the temperament and productivity of their Buckfast bees. Each year BHP Queens supply beekeepers across the country with up to 2000 F1 Buckfast Queens.
Master beekeeper Ged Marshall started the queen rearing side of British Honey Producers Ltd over 30 years ago. He was one of the first commercial beekeepers to begin producing home reared queens at scale for the UK market. Over the years Ged settled on Buckfast bees as being the best suited and having the most preferable characteristics. He gained experience with Brother Adam at Buckfast Abbey and forged a friendship with Keld Brandstrup of Buckfast Denmark from whom we continue to source the highest quality Buckfast breeding stock available.
Having worked alongside Ged for a number of years, Riikka and her husband Tim formed BHP Queens in 2020 to take over the queen rearing side of the business. Since taking over the business they have continued to supply Buckfast queens of the highest quality to satisfied beekeepers across the country.
