When will my Queens arrive?
Your Queens will be posted on a day confirmed with you a week in advance. This will usually be a Monday or Thursday. If you choose Special Delivery your Queens should arrive the following day (Tuesday or Friday). With standard delivery this is also usually the case but Royal Mail cannot be held accountable and there is no guarantee. Please review our Delivery and Returns page for further details.
How do I introduce my new Queen into a hive?
We have outlined our recommended method on the Introducing a queen page.
How do I get started as a Beekeeper?
We suggest you get in contact with your local association. The British Beekeepers Association lists all their local branches on their website.
What is special about your Queens?
Our queens have a reputation for their temperament and productivity. To find out more about why they are so special read the Our Bees page of the website.
Can I visit you to see your site?
Unfortunately we do not currently offer visits or experience days.
Can you collect a swarm for me?
We do not collect swarms of bees ourselves but you can find local beekeepers who may be able to help via the British Beekeepers Association website.
I think there is a problem with my queen. Can you help?
Please contact us if you feel there is a problem with your queen. We will gladly answer any queries regarding our queens but for all other problems we would be grateful if you would consult your local association. You can find our contact details at the bottom of the page.
Why do you mark your queens?
It is common practice for beekeepers to mark the queen with a coloured spot on her thorax. The colour used corresponds with an internationally recognised sequence indicating the year the queen was introduced. This helps beekeepers to immediately find the queen in a hive and to easily keep track of her age. There are five queen bee marking colours used. Since queens do not live more than 5 years, the colour sequence repeats in the sixth year.
